The Floating Pad (also known as a Floating Guide Pad) is a critical guiding component in deep hole boring tools (specifically BTA and Ejector systems). Unlike fixed pads, floating pads utilize a spring-loaded or hydraulic mechanism to maintain constant contact with the borehole wall. This “floating” action dynamically compensates for tool deflection, ensuring superior straightness and surface finish in deep hole machining.
