Floating Pad, for Deep Hole Boring Tools

The Floating Pad (also known as a Floating Guide Pad) is a critical guiding component in deep hole boring tools (specifically BTA and Ejector systems). Unlike fixed pads, floating pads utilize a spring-loaded or hydraulic mechanism to maintain constant contact with the borehole wall. This “floating” action dynamically compensates for tool deflection, ensuring superior straightness and surface finish in deep hole machining.

The Deep Hole Boring Tube is the core component of BTA (Boring and Trepanning Association) deep hole drilling systems. Designed for high-efficiency machining of deep holes with a depth-to-diameter ratio (D:d) ≥ 10:1, it is widely used in aerospace, energy, and automotive industries.
